  • Description
Description

KTP treatment is an advanced technology used to get relief from dermatological problems. It stands for Potassium-titanyl-phosphate, which is a medical procedure that is done by using a special type of laser. A green laser light is used to diminish skin-related problems, like rosacea, sunspots, spider veins, freckles, etc.

There are many treatment options available for related problems like spots, however, the KTP laser treatment is the best option to treat pigment-related problems. It has become an important and valuable tool to get toned skin and to improve your skin condition. It gives a long-lasting result by giving youthful complexion. The procedure is performed by a qualified dermatologist.

How Does KTP Laser Work?

It works on the principle of photothermolysis, which is a light that creates heat to destroy damaged cells. It is considered as a green light that has a certain wavelength, i.e, 532 nm. Its purpose is to target melanin, red tattoo pigment, and oxyhaemoglobin. Our skin has chromophore molecules which absorb this light energy and this gets converted into thermal energy and destroys the targeted cells.

Uses of KTP Laser

It is used to treat many skin disorders, and these are mentioned below:

  • Rosacea: It is a condition that causes redness for the long term. This laser treatment is used to treat vascular lesions.
  • Freckles: It is spots that changed from red to brown. The treatment is also beneficial to treat superficial dyspigmentation like freckles.
  • Tattoos: Tattoos which is made by red ink can be removed by using KTP laser treatment.
  • Cutaneous Vascular Lesions: It is helpful to treat stains which are superficial and also helpful in treating cutaneous vascular lesions, like facial redness, spider veins, broken capillaries, etc.
  • Other Uses: It is also helpful in reducing acne scars, birthmarks as well as it also treats vocal cord lesions like dysplasia and papilloma.

  • Step 2: To protect eyes from the harmful rays, eye protection goggles are given to an individual.
  • Step 3: Cooling gel is applied on the targeted skin, and then a handpiece of KTP laser is against the outer layer of your skin. This will activate the KTP laser.
  • Step 4: The skin of the targeted area is hit by this laser light, which may be reflected, transmitted, absorbed.
  • Step 5: The chromophores of the skin absorb this light energy and its heat damage, which causes skin-related problems.
