Ovarian Cyst Removal Treatment

  • Description
Description

Ovarian cyst removal is a medical procedure done to treat cyst-related problems in females. Most ovarian cysts go away by themselves. However, if doctors found it large and cancerous, then they recommend surgical treatment. There are various types of ovarian cyst removal treatment, such as open cystectomy or laparotomy, and laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy. These two treatments are popular among most medical experts and patients as well.

What is an Ovarian Cyst?

An ovarian cyst is a sac or pouch kind of thing that contains harmful fluid. This is a common problem in women, and it goes by on its own without treatment. However, in rare cases, it can become dangerous for overall health. Therefore, it requires treatment. Hence, a healthcare provider recommends further treatment options to the patient when they find that the cyst is large and can’t be treated with the help of medications. Hence, it needs surgical treatment.

Causes of Ovarian Cyst

Here are a few causes of ovarian cysts.

Types of Ovarian Cystectomy

  • Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy: This treatment involves small incisions in the abdomen. Through making incisions, doctors insert a tube that is attached to a tiny camera to view inside the pelvic organ. With the help of this device, they successfully removed cyst from the ovaries.

  • If you have been taking specific medications and diagnosed with other medical conditions, then the doctor determines the treatment according to your condition.
  • If you are healthy and young and you have no other medical condition, then you may consider fitting for surgical treatment.
  • At the beginning of surgical treatment, you are provided with a general anaesthesia to relax you during the procedure.
  • After that, a team of medical experts assists the operating doctor to proceed with the procedure.
  • Then a doctor starts making the incisions in the abdominal part and removes the cyst from the ovaries with the help of specific tools and devices.
  • Once the cyst is removed, the doctor closes the incisions with stitches.
  • Lastly, the patient is sent to the general ward for observation for a few hours.
