Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment

  • Description
Description

People make their tattoos for fashion or artwork. Some of them wear it for belief, feelings, and impressment, but it doesn’t show any effect and becomes unwanted for them. Therefore, individuals are suggested to remove tattoos from their body. Tattoo removal involves several techniques in which laser therapy is one of them. A healthcare provider uses this therapy if you want to remove a tattoo from the skin. You can also consult with a dermatologist for this procedure.

Laser tattoo removal involves removal of unwanted tattoos from the skin. It uses pulses of light with a high-intensity beam, which breaks down the ink particles into smaller fragments. These particles are not removed easily because they are big and permanent. Several sessions need to be taken for tattoo removal because it is a complex process. It happens due to the existence of permanent ink granules below the skin surface. Laser tattoo removal is most common option for tattoo removal among several options. You can consult with a healthcare provider or dermatologist for the removal of unwanted tattoos.

Types of Lasers in the Medical Field

Several lasers are used for tattoo removal. These include the following:

  • Q-switched Ruby Laser: This laser involves the removal of black, blue, and green pigments. It also eliminates age spots, birthmarks, and other pigmented lesions from the skin.
  • Q-switched Alexandrite Laser: It black and blue pigment from the person’s skin.
  • Q-switched Nd: YAG Laser: This type of laser consists of two wavelengths. A 532 nm wavelength involves removal of red, yellow and orange pigment, whereas 1064 nm removes black and blue pigment from the skin. The pigmentation and textural changes of this laser are less common than in ruby lasers.

Advantages of Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment

The removal of unwanted tattoo provides several benefits, which are as follows:

  • It lessens the risk of infection and scarring.
  • This procedure requires minimal downtime as compared to others.
  • The removal of unwanted tattoos encourages one to build self-confidence and makes the skin comfortable.
  • This procedure is beneficial for employment opportunities in some professions.

Reasons for Laser Tattoo Removal Treatments

A tattoo removal involves several reasons. These include the following:

Relationship Breakup

People want to remove their tattoo due to relationship breakup. Tattoo reminds the name of your ex written on the hand but when the relationship ends, it has to be removed because it becomes a painful reminder.

If you keep the tattoo on your skin, which reminds you about the past relationship then there is no shame in removing it through laser therapy. After removing, you are suggested to move on into your new life.

Regrets for Design

People regret when they choose a wrong design. They want to remove a tattoo because it does not fit their personalities anymore. People can also remove a tattoo due to an unwanted ink and they suggest the artist make a new and fresh tattoo.

Preventing Employment Opportunities

The tattoos in visible places, such as arms or hands, challenges in finding a specific job with no requirement of manual labor. It is important to remove tattoos if you are looking for customer service or any other work, which requires interaction with public places.

Mind Changes

Some people get embarrassed from an unwanted tattoo, which makes them self-conscious. It may be due to inappropriate designs or visibility of the tattoo’s location while wearing a particular cloth.

Fading Overtime

Tattoos begin to fade and become illegible with age. This is because the older tattoos are not created with high-quality inks or they don’t require proper care. When this happens, people remove their tattoos on the skin and then they start with a new and fresh design.

Procedure for Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment

Lasers involve high-intensity light beams to break the pigment colors. Black pigment absorbs all laser frequencies, which makes it easier to treat. The selected lasers only treat other colors depending upon the pigment color.

You should consult with a trained and certified professional before the procedure. After that, the number of treatments are required for tattoo removal which depends upon the age, size and color of the tattoo. This removal technique gets affected due to the color of the skin and depth of the tattoo pigment. During the procedure, you should expect the following things:

  • A doctor or technician will start the process if everything is okay.
  • After that, an image of your tattoo is taken for records.
  • A pair of sunglasses will be given for eye protection. The doctor or technician starts washing and lets the skin dry.
  • After skin gets dried, a cold pack or cooling gel might be applied on the darker skin.
  • A shot of numbing medication or cream is provided for the treatment process.
  • After that, a quick patch test might be performed which determines the reaction of a skin. This helps a doctor or technician to decide which type of lasers and techniques provide the best results for tattoo removal.
  • A laser will be used which passes the pulses of light through your skin. The light gets absorbed through ink and then it starts breaking. A laser might be passed over the tattoo for at least a few minutes.
  • This process is uncomfortable but consult with your doctor or technician when experiencing a lot of pain. They change the process if required.

The fewer pulses are required for smaller tattoos but larger tattoos need several treatments for complete removal. The tattoo becomes lighter after each treatment.
