Then this medical condition is called lupus. It is a long-term condition in which patients experience tiredness, skin rashes and joint pain. Lupus erythematosus treatment helps in reducing inflammation and damage by protecting organs. It is quite a severe medical condition. 

Symptoms of Lupus

You can experience its signs throughout the body and its organs. Severity of the symptoms may vary from person to person. Its most common symptoms are given below:

  • Rashes or butterfly rash is common across to your face

Causes of Lupus Erythematosus

The exact reason what cause lupus is not known yet but according to some study, it can be caused due to the following factors:

  • Genetic changes
  • Sunlight
  • Due to reaction of hormones like estrogen may cause lupus

Diagnosis:

Your doctor will run some diagnostic tests and these are given below:

  • Skin or kidney tissue is removed for a biopsy to view damage.
  • Antibodies are formed when the body fights against infection then it is checked by doing an antinuclear antibody test.
  • Urine test to check signs of infection.
  • To check low blood counts, infection and blood related problems like anemia.

Options for lupus erythematosus treatment include the following:

Medications

There are some medicines which help to manage its symptoms. Sometimes these drugs are used in a combined form to reduce Lupus’ symptoms. These include:

  • Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs: It is a pain-relieving medicine which will also reduce inflammation. It includes chemotherapy and antimalarial drugs.
  • Corticosteroids: This medicine reduces inflammation to the parts of the body. It can be taken through mouth or injection, this will help in getting relief from its symptoms.
  • Immunosuppressant: These are biological medicines which help to relax your body’s immune system. It also prevents tissues by getting damaged and inflamed.
  • Hydroxychloroquine: It is an antirheumatic medicine which will help in managing pain.

Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle

There are some ways to reduce and manage symptoms of Lupus:

  • Engage in physical activity 
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Avoid smoke
  • Check for the infection
  • Eat healthy diet for your heart
  • Avoid getting exposure to the sunlight and wear full sleeves clothes.
