Primary Obesity Surgery Endolumenal

  • Description
Description

Primary obesity surgery endolumenal is a weight loss procedure that is done by using an endoscope without making any cut on the body. It is a less invasive surgery and ideal for those individuals who want to lose weight between 25 to 70 pounds. To lose over 100 pounds, people choose bariatric surgery. In this process, folds are made in the stomach, which reduces the food holding capacity. This change makes you feel fuller by eating a small amount of food. It is an outpatient weight loss operation in which a person can go home within the same day.

Criteria for POSE Surgery

There are the following points that are considered before going for this operation. It is done according to the following criteria:

  • Unsuccessful attempts of non-surgical weight loss treatments.
  • Individuals who want to make significant changes in their lifestyle, like balanced diet and exercises.
  • Patients who are eager to lose weight below 100 pounds and whose BMI is from 30 to 40.

Benefits of Primary Obesity Surgery Endolumenal

There are many advantages of this process:

  • If it is required then it can be reversible.
  • It leaves no scars.
  • Endoscope is inserted through the mouth.
  • Less pain and discomfort.
  • No cuts are made in the abdomen
  • Quick healing process.

Procedure of Primary Obesity Surgery Endolumenal

This is fast and effective procedure to treat obesity in individuals, and it is carried out in the following way:

  • Before the Procedure: Individuals should share their medical and family history with their doctor before starting the procedure. You will ask to stop taking any medicines during the treatment because it can alter the effectiveness of the procedure.
  • During the Procedure:
    • It starts by giving anesthesia to the patient.
    • It is an outpatient technique in which an endoscope is inserted through the mouth. A special type of endoscopic surgery tool is used to view the stomach.
    • After reaching your stomach, this incisionless operating platform tool grasps, folds, and fastens the sections of the stomach tissue together.
    • This tool makes many stomach folds and then stitches them with sutures. These sutures anchor tissues in the gastrointestinal tract and the stomach.
  • After the Procedure: This is an outpatient surgery in which a patient can leave the hospital at the same day after completing the procedure. The doctor will advise some instructions, like no strenuous physical exercise and other activities for a few days. You will be asked to take pain killers for any discomfort or pain.

Diet Plan and Recovery after Primary Obesity Surgery Endolumenal

There are some foods and drinks that should be avoided after the POSE surgery. Such as spicy foods, caffeinated beverages, fatty foods, sweets, and meat. For a few days, you will be advised to avoid milk, broth, water, and juice. Gradually, your healthcare provider will add some food to your diet over the period of time.

It has fast recovery in comparison to other types of surgeries. There is no requirement for a deep cut in the stomach. Patient has to stay in the hospital for a whole night under observation. This is the best and effective solution to lose weight without making any large and deep cuts. The combination of lifestyle and this operation can help to achieve the goal of weight loss in the best way.
