Female Sterilization Treatment

  • Description
Description

A medical procedure called female sterilization is a lasting treatment to intercept the pregnancy. In this procedure the Fallopian tubes of a woman are closed in order to avert the egg from reaching to the uterus and stop the sperm from reaching to the egg. If the sperm reaches the egg and gets fertilized then pregnancy occurs. Therefore, through female sterilization treatment, eggs can be prevented from reaching the uterus. It is 99% effective treatment method to avoid pregnancy.

The interesting fact about the treatment is that it does not affect your hormonal balance and menstrual cycle.  And it has been a quite popular treatment in the medical field for years. There are two types of female sterilization treatments, invasive and non invasive. Both the treatment gives freedom to the couples to have desired sex and children. According to the statistics around 200 million married females opt for this procedure at their reproductive age after completing their family. Not only women, even men also go for the procedure after having 2 to 3 children.

Types of Female Sterilization

There are two types of treatment method of female sterilization which are as follows:

1. Invasive Sterilization Method: The invasive procedure involves tubal ligation. In this procedure Fallopian tubes are sealed or removed after giving mild anesthesia to the female. It is also known as laparoscopy in the medical field. Usually performed by the experienced gynecologist after the cesarean section treatment and vaginal delivery.

2. Non-Invasive Method: This procedure involves the insertion of contraceptive devices without making incisions in the body. With the help of these devices doctors successfully seal the Fallopian tube to prevent the pregnancy. The devices are inserted through the vagina into the uterus organ of the female. This is also an effective type of sterilization however you need to make sure the devices are securely inserted under the consultation of the doctors.

Female Sterilization Treatment Procedure

The treatment procedure is done in the hospital or the clinic under the eyes of a gynecologist after give a general anesthesia to the patient, so she might not feel pain or discomfort during the procedure:

  • Before the procedure a medical expert does your pregnancy test, just to make sure that you are not pregnant.
  • The procedure is done through keyhole surgery which is known as laparoscopy.
  • Once the patient is relaxed and calm the doctor starts operating, initially he/she makes 2 or 3 small incisions on the abdomen part and puts the particular gas into your abdomen to clearly see the organ of the patient.
  • For laparoscopy the operating surgeon uses a thin tube attached with a tiny camera to reach out the Fallopian tubes.
  • After that the Fallopian tube is blocked or removes the part of the tube and seals them permanently.
  • Lastly the surgeon closes the incisions through stitches and a surgical glue.

Recovery from the Procedure

Female Sterilization Treatment Procedure is performed in the hospital or a clinic under the consultation of a gynecologist. Once the female undergoes the procedure she needs to recover after the procedure. Therefore the hospital staff and nurses keep the patient under observation for a few hours and the female is monitored every 15 minutes just to make sure that the patient is recovering and there are no complications.

Recovery generally takes 2 to 5 days. However, the woman can take discharge from the hospital on the same day. At home the female needs to follow all the instructions given by the doctor for a 2, 3 weeks for better recovery.

Female Sterilization Advantages & Cost

The cost of female sterilization treatment may vary according to the location of the hospital and city you have opted for the treatment. Other than that, the doctor’s expertise, the type of hospital also matters in estimating the final cost of the treatment. Although there are several benefits of female sterilization, these include:
